Tri-M Music Honors Society
Tri-M, or Modern Music Masters, is a music honor society whose members are selected for their exceptional musicianship, scholarship, service, and character. 10th-12th grade Baldwin High School students who meet the criteria may apply for membership and take part in our mission to further impact our school district and community through music. The core principles of our Tri-M chapter are as follows.

Music Performance
We believe in the power of musical performance! We also believe that music education contributes strongly to the well-roundedness of our students and it should be a part of every child’s school day as part of a well-designed curriculum. Therefore, our Tri-M Members must be enrolled in at least one of the following Ensemble Music Courses AND meet at least one of the Ensemble Benchmarks listed below.
Ensemble Music Course(s)
Students must be in Honors Highlander Choir, Honors Stage Band Class, or Honors Wind Ensemble, or Orchestra, since no Honors Orchestra course is offered. Students must maintain membership in at least one of these ensembles for the entire school year.
Ensemble Benchmarks
We also believe that honors society students need to go above and beyond. Therefore, in addition to curricular ensemble membership, candidates must meet at least one of the benchmarks listed below:

We also believe that honors society students need to go above and beyond. Therefore, in addition to curricular ensemble membership, candidates must meet at least one of the benchmarks listed below:
- Audition for/participate in PMEA festival competitions
- Participate in an outside performing ensemble such as TRYPO, PYPO, PYSO, Pittsburgh Youth Choir, Junior Mendelssohn, etc. (The ensemble must be sponsored by a professional music organization).
- Member of Baldwin’s Musical Cast or Pit Orchestra for HS/MS musical production
- Member of Baldwin Highlander Marching Band
- Member of Baldwinaires
Scholarship
You are required to maintain an A in your music courses and a B average among all of your courses. On the last day of grading periods 2 and 3, you will upload your grades here. At the end of the year, your directors will pull your grades the last day of MAY. If you grades do not qualify on this day, unfortunately, you will not qualify for continued membership in Tri-M for this school year. (Seniors will lose the privilege of receiving and wearing a Tri-M Cord.
Although you may find your own, there are many school-sponsored opportunities that will fulfill the Music Performance requirement. Use this form to schedule your performance. There is also an evidence form for you to submit clear evidence of your performance.
Character
Tri-M Students MUST maintain the highest decorum maintaining excellent attitude and behavioral standing among faculty, staff, coaches, directors, etc. Any report of incidents involving poor attitude and/or failure to uphold the highest standards in character is cause for loss of membership.
Tri-M Graduation Cords
Tri-M Cords may only be purchased through your BHS directors and students may only wear cords at graduation if they have maintained their membership their entire senior year. Cords are $3 CASH ONLY! Place cash in an envelope with your name on it and put it in your director's mailbox no later than the last day of May.
